Director, Global Project Implementation - APM TERMINALS

Global Project Implementation is responsible for implementing successful new businesses globally through building terminals, establishing local organisations, securing critical partnerships and attracting customers to the new facilities.

As Director, Global Project Implementation you will own a portfolio of projects and be responsible for the shareholder strategy and for the project plan which ensures that we deliver on that strategy. You will drive value creation as well as risk mitigation and will do so from both a strategic shareholder perspective and through detailed project involvement.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Engage with Business Development functions during the “secure” stages of projects to influence the project and its implementability before final approval.
Take the first steps in defining the overall mission, strategy and plan for new terminal projects while the (local) project team is being recruited
Deliver Terminal/Expansion projects under the assigned portfolio per approved business case (promised financial returns, schedule, budget and scope).
Ensure that an integrated project charter and plan (schedule, budget, scope) is in place throughout the project including initiatives to improve value creation and to mitigate risk.
Performance manage the project against the approved plan and seek opportunities to over-deliver
Ensure that projects under implementation are managed according to the APMT adopted project implementation methodology, procedures and tools.
Ensure compliance to APMT Governance in decisions throughout the project
Provide assistance and ensure resources are made available for projects facing problems.
Facilitate, guide and oversee the involvement of APMT Corporate functions in the project.
Represent APM Terminals on Boards of Directors or Steering Committees when relevant.
Participate in negotiations when needed due to complexity.
Define accountabilities, work scope and targets for the members of the project team for assigned projects.
Manage project handovers (BDV to BIM and BIM to Regions).
Contribute actively to the project implementation department’s success including the continuous development of best practices and procedures
Be updated on the entire portfolio of the head of global project implementation and act on his behalf when he is absent.
Reinforce APM-M Group culture, values and reputation and ensure compliance with APM-M Group policies.
Promote communication, information sharing and cooperation between projects and BIM functions as relevant.
